Samantha Stein has worked with vocal students from ages 8 to adult, and teaches a mix of classical, musical theater and popular music styles. She believes in a healthy, free voice and teaches according to the whole body of the student. Her vocal methods focus on having fun while cementing the basics of diction, breath support, and artistry. Samantha earned a Bachelor of Music degree from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. This past year she combined her love of teaching with her love of performance as she toured as Mabel in Pirates of Penzance with Opera for the Young, Wisconsin’s acclaimed outreach young artist program.
In addition to teaching, Samantha maintains an exciting career in vocal performance. She has starred in roles such as Yum-Yum with the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company of Chicago in their production of The Mikado, as Musetta in La Boheme with the Verismo Opera Club of Chicago, as Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with the Bay View Music Festival, and as Ernestine in Offenbach’s R.S.V.P. with the Chicago College of Performing Arts. Her soloist work includes Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasie.
