Every Christmas Karen’s Grandma Jones gave each of the Great Grandchildren a one dollar bill. When Karen was eight years old the church was selling the old black upright piano for ten dollars. Karen, Connie, Tina, Matt and Craig all contributed their dollar and with a five dollar match from Mom and Dad they purchased the old piano. Soon after the piano purchase, Karen began piano lessons with a very kind teacher.
Mrs. Loveland became the Junior Sunday School Chorister at the age of thirteen and was the church organist at the age of fifteen. Karen has taught and played music in some capacity for thirty-three years.
Mrs. Loveland was a volunteer teacher in the music programs of her children’s school for four years. The experience prompted her return to college in 2007 to earn a degree in Music Education. Karen is in the final semester of the Piano Pedagogy Certificate program at Northern Kentucky University.
