Teacher Agreement
- Teachers are considered independent contractors, and are completely responsible for their own income and tax liabilities.
- Teachers will read, sign, and abide by the Philosophy Statement of Florence Music Academy.
- Teachers will set their own individual policies, prices and schedule, and will communicate these to families before signing them up.
- Teachers will reserve studio space on a monthly basis using our calendar software. Teachers are responsible for paying $10/hour for each hour they reserve, whether or not it is used. Please reserve your space carefully.
- Payments for studio space are due by the 15th of the month. It is therefore recommended that teachers require payment from students the first lesson of each month.
- Teachers will submit a biography, contact information and photograph for public distribution.
- If a teacher would like to schedule a meeting with a potential family, he/she must reserve the space, but will not be charged. This can be arranged on our calendar software.
- Teachers may leave any materials they wish in their studio space, but the Florence Music Academy is not responsible for those materials.
- If there is a problem with the facility, the teacher will let Elizabeth know on the clipboard so the issue can be addressed.
- Teachers will leave studio space in a condition appropriate for the next teacher coming in.
- If a teacher decides to leave, they are responsible for making arrangements with all their students. Each month you must pay for your reserved space whether or not you come.
- If a teacher is ill and needs to reschedule space, that can be arranged through Elizabeth. Teachers are expected to offer make-up lessons for days they miss.
- Teachers are not expected to make-up lessons a student misses for any reason, but may at their own discretion.
- Teachers will be charged $25 for a lost or non-returned key.
- Teachers are responsible for recruiting and maintaining their own students. Florence Academy of Music will help by advertising and referring interested students, but is not responsible for making sure teachers have students.
- When teaching a student alone in a room, all window blinds and shades must be left open. Any inappropriate behavior between a student and teacher will be considered a breach of contract and the teacher will be asked to leave.
- The last teacher to leave each day must check all lights, rooms and doors, and will lock up behind them.
- Any teacher who is unable to abide by these guidelines will be asked to leave.
